“MegaFault” Trailer Debuts Online

MTV got the exclusive first look at the trailer for MegaFault, starring none other than Brittany Murphy and Eriq La Salle. The duo play a seismologist and a miner, respectively, racing to stop a giant earthquake that threatens to tear the world in half.

Syfy will be premiering the film on October 10, 2009 at 9 pm (8 pm Central). Per Paul Bales’ News & Production Blog on The Asylum’s website, “MegaFault is our biggest budget film to date and has more action and special effects than Julie and Julia. And if that’s not enough to get you to tune in, the film was directed by David Michael Latt, written by Yours Truly, and it isn’t a rip-off of any other movie … except Julie and Julia.”

Along with Murphy and La Salle, MegaFault co-stars Bruce Davison and Justin Hartley. The DVD and Blu-ray street on November 24, 2009.

Production of ‘Sin City 2′ May Start in 2010

There is a chance that “Sin City 2″ will kick off its production in 2010. The possibility has been thrown in by the star of “Sin City”, Clive Owen, himself when MTV caught up with him at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival while promoting his new film “The Boys Are Back”.

Asked whether a sequel is indeed in the horizon, the 44-year-old quickly responded, “I’m hearing it might be next year,” before adding, “I heard that from a very good source…recently.” Pressed further from whom he heard the news, the leading man of “The International” coyly suggested that he may hear it from either Frank Miller or Robert Rodriguez.

The story of “Sin City 2″ may likely come from Frank Miller’s “A Dame to Kill For”, which has been long rumored to be adapted into big screen. The novel itself tells an earlier story of Dwight McCarthy that is portrayed by Clive Owen. Director Robert Rodriguez previously stated that the sequel would blend old “Sin City” element with new story lines by Miller.

Rodriguez and Miller will team up to direct the movie. Some of the original cast who will reprise their roles include Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, Brittany Murphy, Mickey Rourke and Michael Clarke Duncan. The release date is also still to be determined, but it is believed to take place in 2010.

“The Expendables” Pushed Back Four Months

“The Expendables” will arrive in theaters across the United States four months later than what has been scheduled earlier. Originally planned to blast into the cinemas on April 23, 2010, the Sylvester Stallone-directed actioner has been pushed back into a summer slate and now eying an August 20, 2010 release.

The news of the release date shift has come from Lionsgate itself. The studio tweeted on Tuesday, September 1, “EXPENDABLES arrive 8/20/10″. With the new date, “Expendables” will come out a week before Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Resident Evil: Afterlife” is expected to make its debut in theaters on August 27.
