To this day, no movie has been quite as quintessential or encapsulating of the beloved 90’s as 1995’s cult classic “Clueless.” Our protagonists, the superficial but good-natured Cher Horowitz and the rest of her Beverly Hills posse, became household names; their quotable catchphrases and flashy outfits cemented into 90’s culture. The success of the movie even spawned a spin-off television series, which ran from 1996 to 1999 and recast many of the original movie actors.
It’s been twelve years since the show ended and 16 since the movie premiered – but have the former “Clueless” actors retired off the Hollywood scene? As if! Here’s a look at what they’ve been up to this past decade:
Brittany Murphy (Tai Frasier): Interestingly, it was the supporting characters in the movie who seemed to go on to bigger roles post-“Clueless” – including Cher’s awkward ‘social project’ Tai (Murphy) and stepbrother Josh (Paul Rudd, below). Murphy, who died of pneumonia in 2009 at only 32, skyrocketed onto Hollywood’s A-List after her part in the 1999 Oscar-winning film “Girl, Interrupted.” After a couple more supporting roles in movies such as “Summer Catch” and “Riding in Cars With Boys,” Murphy snagged leads in hits like “8 Mile,” “Uptown Girls,” and “Little Black Book.” In 2010, she was honored for her achievements in the “In Memoriam” tribute at the Oscars.
