The mother of tragic actress Brittany Murphy has lashed out at a Hollywood Reporter journalist for going public with an investigation into the Clueless star’s death.
Police ruled out foul play in Murphy’s December, 2009 death, while Los Angeles coroner’s officials ruled the star died from pneumonia, anaemia and a toxic mix of prescription drugs.
But The Hollywood Reporter’s Ben Block has spent months researching the mystery of the actress’ shock death – and he’s now revealing some new facts, which have upset Murphy’s mum Sharon.
Block tells news show Entertainment Tonight, “What nobody seemed to realise was that because of other problems – including having her period twice in one month – she was suffering from anaemia. She was losing a lot of blood this weakens you tremendously.”
The reporter discovered Murphy had a quarter of the normal red blood count at the time of her death.
He adds, “The pneumonia was filling her lungs with fluid at the same time. What was even worse was she couldn’t even take care of herself that last night. She was mostly worried about her mom and her husband.
“Her mother had neuropathy… (and) her husband had become very ill… He had at least three seizures a night.
“They did take care of each other and felt that they could self-medicate and consult with a physician by phone.”
Block also believes that Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack, who died in May, created an unhealthy environment around the actress: “He was very paranoid and passed his paranoia on to her and isolated her from close family and friends who had been part of her life.”
The expose has shocked and hurt Murphy’s mom, who says, “As I am dealing daily with the heart-wrenching loss of my entire family, I am shocked by Mr. Block’s statements.
“This is very disturbing that someone that was supposed to be mine and Brittany’s friend, and someone who works for The Hollywood Reporter, would make statements that are 100 per cent untrue. For anyone to even fathom that I would just sit and watch my only beloved daughter die and not get help instantly is beyond my way of thinking and despicable.”
More mystery surrounding death of Murphy’s widow
Monday, June 28th, 2010The mystery surrounding Brittany Murphy’s widow Simon Monjack has just doubled after it emerged the producer and writer left a strange message on his own cell phone answer machine before he died last month.
Investigators found the eerie message, left on the day Monjack died, in his voicemail on his phone. In it, he says, “I need to go to the hospital. I have a fever.”
Later on in the recording, obtained by TMZ.com, Murphys’ mother Sharon can be heard saying, “Tell them you have a fever.” It’s unclear who ‘them’ is.
The cause of Monjack’s death has yet to be determined.
Last week, Monjack’s mother accused Sharon of ignoring her pleas to call a doctor in the hours before the filmmaker’s death.

Sharon Murphy’s publicist, Roger Neal, has slammed Monjack’s accusations, insisting she did everything she could to help the filmmaker.

Simon Monjack’s Mother Accuses Brittany Murphy’s Mom of Failing to Help
Sunday, June 27th, 2010Simon Monjack’s mother has accused Brittany Murphy’s mum Sharon of ignoring her pleas to call a doctor in the hours before the filmmaker’s death.
Sharon Murphy found the director unconscious at the Hollywood Hills home he once shared with his late wife in May. Paramedics determined he had suffered a cardiac arrest and pronounced him dead at the scene. The “Clueless” star died in December 2009 after collapsing at the same property.
Monjack’s mother Linda has now taken aim at Sharon – alleging she pleaded with her to get Monjack medical help because she was so concerned about him on the night before he passed away. Linda Monjack claims she spoke to Sharon and ordered her to get him to a hospital.
She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “I’d pleaded with Sharon over and over during those last hours to get medical help, to get him to a hospital, but she didn’t… I’d call and he wasn’t even able to respond.
It was at this point that I demanded to speak to Sharon, and I told her, ‘Please, please call the doctor. Get him to hospital. Please just get him some help’. She told me that she’d ‘been through this before’ and that Simon was over the worse.”
“I phoned again at 4 A.M. and Sharon told me Simon had vomited up a black substance and his eyes had been rolling in his head. I asked her if he was unconscious, but she told me he was sleeping. At 7 A.M. she called, sobbing hysterically, saying Simon was dead. I cannot describe the pain.”
But Sharon Murphy’s publicist, Roger Neal, has slammed Monjack’s accusations, insisting she did everything she could to help the filmmaker. He says, “When she found Simon, he had already passed away. The moment she found him, she called 911 for help. Sharon loved Simon like a son, and he loved her like a mom. They had a close mother-son relationship. She is devastated.”

Brittany Murphy’s Husband ‘Had Two Secret Children’

Simon Monjack- husband of Brittany Murphy who died last month- had two secret children, according to reports.
TMZ says emails have been found by his family which indicate that he owed two women child support money.
It’s also claimed that he had sent one woman nearly £40,000 before his death. The information has reportedly been passes to coroners investigating the Brit’s death.
Monjack died five months after his actress wife. Murphy’s death was ruled an accident, after she took a large amount of prescription medication to treat a cold.
Her final film Abandoned is likely to be released later this year.
